Multimedia devices assignment!
When we had choosen our site we then choose our topics which are the following:
- CPU
- RAM
- Piracy and Copyright-
-DVD/CD
-Handheld
-Graphic cards
We started workng on cpu and are planning to finish the others in time, we are working together as they say two brains better as one :)
In todays lesson we go working on our ist assighment and finshed up cpu and worked on the rest copyright and priacy .dvd/cd, hanld devices.We had turns doing each topic and managed to get it quicker that way.
In todays lesson we worked on our last 2 topics and managed to finish before the lesson ended.We ahve completed our ist assighment.

UMPC's are Business-class device for enterprise users. They run a "heavy" OS like Vista. They are optimized for office-use applications like Excel, Word, etc.
MID's are Consumer-class lifestyle devices. They runs a 'lightweight" OS with quick startup like Linux. They are Optimized for things like media playback and web surfing.
Both devices are very similar to eachother.
ASUSeePC 901 One of the leading contenders in the netbook market due to its long battery life, smaller sizing and huge community. Especially interesting for mobile users due to its size.

Bits && Bytes =)
A digit is a single place that can hold numerical values between 0 and 9. Digits are normally combined together in groups to create larger numbers.
2.“normal” counting numbers used in everyday life are based on what sequence of numbers?
They are based on the binary number system
3. Where does the word bit originate from?
The word bit is a shortening of the words "Binary digIT."
4.Binary numbers don’t use base 10. What base do they use? What digits are available in base 2? They use base 2. Digits avaliable in base 2 are increasing powers of 2.
5. What is a byte?
Bits are rarely seen alone in computers. They are almost always bundled together into 8-bit collections, and these collections are called bytes.
6.How many bytes in a kilo, mega, giga and tera bytes.
kilo= 1,024
mega= 1,048,576
giga= 1,073,741,824
tera= 1,099,511,627,776
7.Complete the following conversions;
1000 Mb = 1Gb
500 Gb = 512 000Mb
5000 Kb = 5Mb

Mobile internet Device (MID)
It provides low power and is designed specifically for a new wave of Mobile Internet Devices and simple, low-cost PC's.
enables the latest Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs), and another new category of devices for the internet called netbooks and nettops.
Delivers the power and performance you need for full Internet capabilities.
Gives you a new range of power-efficient devices with excellent performance enabled by all new hafnium-infused 45nm high-k silicon technology.
Increases energy efficiency in smaller more compact designs with a thermal design power specification ranging from less than 1W to 2.5 watts for mobile devices.
Extend battery life in select devices with an incredibly low idle and average power allowing the device to stay powered on while also conserving energy.
Dual Core Processors
Dual-core refers to a CPU that includes two complete execution cores per physical processorIt combines two processors and their caches and cache controllers onto a single integrated circuit(silicon chip).
Multitasking is the ability of an operating system to run more than one program simultaneously, allowing the user to easily switch and share information between applications.
How do they work together?
Since each core has its own cache, the operating system has sufficient resources to handle intensive tasks in parallel, which provides a noticeable improvement to multitasking.
CPU's
A CPU is a complete computation engine that is fabricated on a single chip.
2. What was the name of the first CPU?
The first microprocessor was the Intel 4004, introduced in 1971.
3. Referring to the graph on page 2 of the article, describe how the speed of CPU’s has changed.
The speed o CPU's has bemome alot faster.
4. What does MIPS measure?
MIPS stands for "millions of instructions per second" and is a rough measure of the performance of a CPU.

Pageflakes =]
A flake is a tab, each tab containing user-selected modules called Flakes. Each Flake varies in content; information such as Calendar, Notes, Web search, weather forecast.'
(236 K)
What is a pagecast? View some pagecasts created by others.
Pagecasting means publishing your Pageflakes page for others to see.You can share your Pagecast with the world or with a private group. (145 k )
How could we use a pagecast in the context of our project this term?
We could use it to creare a page for others to see and share it with the group.

Story Board
we are all hoping to finish our storyboard by the end of this week.
Script
we are using the same lyrics, but using images which will hopefully put a bit of humour in the song, for a bit of a laugh.
Every word i write
Im always thinking about you
Every song i singIs with you're face painted in my mind
I need you to realize
How much i need you in my life
You keep me alive
And ill always fight for you
Cuz i love you And i need you
Lawrence you are my guiding light
To whats true
Thats me and you
Forever my heart is in your hands....Every smile i make
Is so true cuz im truly happy
Every day i awake
I thank god for giving me you
Well i know sometimes
Ive made mistakes
Ive gone and choose the wrong way
But i need to to know
That ill always love and only need you
Synopsis
We are aiming this vidioclip particulary for teenagers.
Our goal is to turn the love song "lawrence" into a funny video clip.

internet speed
Download= 3206kb/s
Upload= 673kb/s
2. What is the speed of the connection from your computer to the U.S location on the map?
Download= 2867kb/s
Upload= 636kb/s
3. Why did the data transfer rates vary?
I think it varied because the US is further away and therefore it will take longer to download and upload. This is just like when an eight lane highway moves into a two lane highway, as it slows down.
Australian Bureau of Statistics
7.10 million subscribers to the Internet in Australia.
964,000 business and government subscribers.
6.14 million household subscribers.
B] Look at the access technologies heading. How many more people are using broadband since 2005? Remember that you have to add 000 to the numbers.
3431000 more people
Boardband =]
Term used for any kind of fast interent access
2. What units are used to measure bandwidth?
kbit/s
3. How much faster is broadband than dial up?
Generally 10-20 times faster
4. What are the speeds that broadband operates at compared to dial up?
Dial-up modem operates at either 28.8 kbit/s or 56 kbit/s.
Broadband connection operates at between 256 kbit/s and 10 Mbit/s.
5. What are some of the advantages of using a broadband connection to download something like a video compared to dial up?
Boardband will allow you to download the vidio very fast, while dial up will take its time downloading the vidio very slowly.
